Industrial Noise Assessment
Impact Acoustics provide a full range of noise surveys and acoustic reports for mechanical plant and commercial noise
We are here to help
BS4142 Noise Survey | Mechanical Plant | Industrial Noise | Commercial Noise
Existing or proposed industrial developments can have a significant noise impact on surrounding residential areas and a noise impact assessment or and industrial noise survey is normally required, either at the planning stage, or as a result of noise complaints. From small commercial air source heat pumps and kitchen extract systems through to industrial recycling centres, Impact Acoustics have broad experience in the assessment of noise and vibration for the industrial, commercial and utilities sectors
Why do you need an assessment to BS4142?
BS4142:2019 Noise impact assessments in Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Sussex, Staffordshire, Berkshire, Devon, Cornwall, Hertfordshire Warwickshire, Dorset, Hampshire, London, Surrey, Kent and throughout the UK. noise survey / noise tests are normally requested by a Planning Officer or E.H.O (Environmental Health Officer) due to concerns of increased noise from proposed mechanical noise e.g. Fans, Air Conditioning Systems, Generators etc. applied for in a planning application to the local authority (Council). Impact Acoustics is experienced in liaising with the relevant planning or environmental control authority to ensure that your development has the smoothest possible path to completion.
Impact Acoustics can offer a fully integrated service of noise measurement, mitigation and management for industrial and mineral extraction sites. This service is used typically as part of a wider Environmental Impact Assessment.
Why do you need a noise impact assessment for industrial noise?
Commercial developments which can include offices, retail, sports/leisure and distribution operations can have very different acoustical requirements. Where commercial activities are planned adjacent to noise sensitive receivers, appropriate mitigation measures need to be incorporated from the outset. Where commercial development is planned in an already noisy area, appropriate measures may need to be required to ensure that the acoustical climate required for the functioning of the development is achieved.
Whether your project is in Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Sussex, Staffordshire, Berkshire, Devon, Cornwall, Hertfordshire Warwickshire, Dorset, Hampshire, London, Surrey, Kent and throughout the UK Impact Acoustics offer a full range of noise impact assessments to meet your project. Step by Step Guide to BS4142 Noise Assessment
With extensive experience of acoustic survyes and noise reports in Berkshire, Devon Surrey, Kent, Dorset, Hampshire, Sussex, Cornwall, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire Warwickshire, London, , and throughout the UK at the development stage, the services that we offer include:
01
Scope out the works
Liaise with the environmental health or local authority where needed following working noise policy and standards
02
Measure the Background Noise
By measuring the background noise it is important to understand the existing noise climate in the absence of proposed plant or commercial use during proposed or existing operational hours.
03
Model the noise emissions
Using 3D noise modelling software in accordance with ISO9613-2 to predict noise emissions from plant such as condenser units or kitchen extract systems to the nearest sensitive premises.
04
Noise Control Measures
Recommendation of mitigation and noise control in the form of attenuation, enclosures, screening or operational constraints where needed.
